FAQs

Where is the Conference Venue?

The conference takes place in the Forum, at the heart of the University of Exeter Streatham Campus, Stocker Road Exeter EX4 4SZ. Directions to the Exeter Streatham campus can be found here.  The Forum is marked as Building 3 on the map of campus.

When can I register?

Registration for the conference will be open on Monday 12 September between 11am and 12pm. Full details will be sent to delegates in advance of the conference. If arriving after this initial registration session, you will be able to collect your name badge from a member of staff, details of arrangements for late registration will be sent to delegates with the joining instructions.

We will not be distributing paper copies of the programme or delegate packs. Information about the programme will be available on your name badge and will be posted on noticeboards at the event.

Is accommodation available?

The conference delegate fee does not include accommodation. Accommodation for conference delegates is available at Holland Hall on the Streatham campus. It can be booked via our online system – https://event.exeter.ac.uk/stay/bed-and-breakfast.

Accommodation is available on Monday 12 September and Tuesday 13 September 2022 with check out on Wednesday 14 September. Please note that when booking you will need to quote the following code: GSI22 (letters GSI followed by numbers 22).

If you are arriving early and would like to book additional nights, these will need to be booked as a separate reservation, noting in the booking notes section that you are attending the GSI conference and would like the same room for the full duration of your stay.

If you have pre-booked accommodation in Holland Hall, you will be able to check in from 1pm on the 12th but 3pm if you have booked an earlier arrival date.

Where can I store luggage?

Luggage can be stored both pre check in and post check out in the Holland Hall common room. It should be noted that luggage will be stored at owners’ risk as we are unable to guarantee safe storage in this area.

What is the catering policy for the conference?

Please note that in line with GSI policy, all catering for the conference will be vegetarian.  If you have any dietary requirements, please ensure you have informed the event organiser through your booking form. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to a member of the conference organising team who will be able to assist you or direct your query to Catering colleagues.

Delegates are requested to bring a reusable water bottle, water stations to refill will be available throughout the conference.

The conference dinner will be held at Holland Hall.

How do I get to the Streatham campus?

Exeter St David’s train station is a 20-minute walk from the Forum or a 10-minute taxi ride.

Please note that there is extremely limited parking on campus. Pay and display car parking is available for visitors to the university in car park C, marked on the map of campus.
